(Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions, demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skills in the process.)Part of my role as the SBG Vice President is to help organize and plan out how ICC will turn out and making sure everything runs smoothly. It was a very challenging process because there were many points that needed to be taken into consideration. We also had to meet once a day in order to count up the points and talk about integrity and bring up complaints. Although ICC only lasts for a week, it took a month to plan, and trying to get all the grades (9-12) to work together during the meetings while they competed out on the field.
In the end it all worked out, and everyone had a good time, but it did have its challenges.

9/12/2017 0 Comments PGC Bullying Activity- (Demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skills in the process, recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.)One of the most important PGC activities we did during the semester was the "Bullying Activity." When I found out that we were going to have the chance to do this, I got very excited, because I have suffered from bullying all my life, so getting the chance to help others and to show them how to deal with it was a great step.
For this activity, we talked a lot about what it means to be a bully, what does it look like, what causes it, etc... We also did an activity on how to deal with bullying personally or if you see someone else being bullied and you are the bystander. I felt that this was crucial, because people usually don't act if others are being bullied because they don't want to get involved, but sometimes getting involved is necessary in order to solve the problem. 11/1/2016 0 Comments Silk Screening Workshop- (Learning Outcomes: Developed new skills, demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaborative,Over the weekend I signed up to take a silk screening course with a famous Peruvian artist. I decided to do it because I thought it would be a great opportunity to take some time out of my life to do something fun, and it would be great to learn something new.
10/10/2016 0 Comments Preparing for GIN- Learning Outcomes: Planned and initiated activities, recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions,Since August, my team and I that I went to Rio last year for the GIN conference have been preparing for the upcoming conference which will be held in Quito in October. Our goal this year is to inspire more people and to cover new sides of our topic which is the link between meat production and climate change. We have updated many of our facts and have been working on a new video because looking back at last year, we saw how much we could improve on.
Using great sources like; UN Food and Agriculture Association, Cowspiracy, and more, we have found many great but troubling facts about this topic and hope to express it to everyone when we go to GIN. 9/28/2016 0 Comments Beautiful Birthday Celebration (Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.)At school, there is a kiosk where students and faculty can buy all sorts of snacks. This kiosk has been at Roosevelt for a long time, and for all that time, one lady and her son have run it. Her name is Rosita, and if you have ever been lucky enough to speak to her, you know that she is one of the sweetest ladies you will ever meet. She memorizes peoples names, what snacks they usually get, and always asks how your day is. About a week ago, my friend Paula asked Rosita when her birthday was, and when we found out it was in a week, we got to work planning. My friends Paula and Abi and I decided to get together on a Sunday and bake her cake-pops. Today, on the day of her birthday, we brought them to school and at lunch, had a mini celebration with her. We got the people who were in hearing distance to come sing to her as well, and we spread the news that it was her birthday, and overall it was a great moment. Seeing the look of pure happiness and gratefulness on her face was amazing and it truly was such a heart warming thing to see. Rosita does so much for our school community, so giving back to her was an experience I wont forget, and I hope that once I graduate students will continue to celebrate her birthday as my friends and I did today. |
