10/15/2017 0 Comments Wellness Week-Puppy Therapy (Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences, Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaborative)My friend and I were in charge of organizing the annual Wellness Week sponsored by the National Honors Society. Our task was to come up with ideas and carry them out. One that I had helped to organize the previous year that had been a huge success was the puppy therapy. This is why, along with the president of the club Voz Animal, I was able to organize the puppy therapy with the teachers dogs. It was challenging because we had to make sure only the students who signed up for the activity were the ones playing with the dogs, but in the end it turned out good.

7/10/2017 0 Comments Global Ambassador's Program- The Finale (Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth, demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skillsSince the beginning of 2016, I have been a part of the Global Ambassadors Program (GAP). This program is a youth-led branch of the Global Issues Network, founded in 2015 and has worked with 80+ students, ages 14-18, from over 30 nationalities. The GIN Global Ambassadors are a team of community builders who value honorable leadership, global collaboration, lifelong-learning and service.
Within this program over the 2 years, one is responsible for dedicating a minimum of 4 hours per week to the growth and work that this program provides. "The GAP learning community intends to study and deliver honed understandings, tools, and models of effective local-global empathetic change that will strengthen community culture, learning, global dialogue, and action. The students who join the program are committed to personal growth and discovery as leaders of today. "Global Ambassadors are dedicated to creating and developing a supportive global learning community and network of active changemakers. Global Ambassadors champion empathetic and equitable sustainability as they develop their community-centered GIN projects in order to create real and lasting impact." This program, personally, has been beneficial to my growth as a leader in my community and has allowed me to work with students from all over the world in order to create local-global solutions to todays problems faces everywhere. 8/25/2016 0 Comments PGC Retreat- Learning Outcomes: (Undertaken New Challenges, worked collaboratively with others, planned and initiated activities.)Two weeks ago, my journey as being a PGC (Peer Group Connection) leader began. If you don't know what PGC is, in summary, it is an amazing program where Juniors and Seniors in high school can apply and volunteer to become somewhat of a counselor for the new freshmen. This causes a sense of trust among the older and younger students and helps the freshmen become better prepared for what to expect throughout their HS journey. On the retreat, all of us new leaders were brought together for 2 days and we were "trained" on how we become these leaders. Through a variety of activities and deep talks, we all got to know each other more personally, and we developed so many skills that I wasn't aware I needed till I left the retreat of Saturday afternoon. Being able to do something as important as this, and getting to help these young 9th graders is something I find so valuable. When I was a freshmen PGC helped me immensely, so knowing that I will be the one that they get to look up to is a feeling I cant describe. |
