8/25/2016 0 Comments PGC Retreat- Learning Outcomes: (Undertaken New Challenges, worked collaboratively with others, planned and initiated activities.)Two weeks ago, my journey as being a PGC (Peer Group Connection) leader began. If you don't know what PGC is, in summary, it is an amazing program where Juniors and Seniors in high school can apply and volunteer to become somewhat of a counselor for the new freshmen. This causes a sense of trust among the older and younger students and helps the freshmen become better prepared for what to expect throughout their HS journey. On the retreat, all of us new leaders were brought together for 2 days and we were "trained" on how we become these leaders. Through a variety of activities and deep talks, we all got to know each other more personally, and we developed so many skills that I wasn't aware I needed till I left the retreat of Saturday afternoon. Being able to do something as important as this, and getting to help these young 9th graders is something I find so valuable. When I was a freshmen PGC helped me immensely, so knowing that I will be the one that they get to look up to is a feeling I cant describe.
